Brief introduction about Master degree programme in Agronomy

The College of Agriculture, Badnapur dist. Jalna has been established as a constituent college of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani. It is one of the sixth constituent colleges of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani. It was established in the year 2000 vide resolution of the government of Maharashtra, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Dairy and Fishery Department bearing number MKV/1299/77/20A dated 29/march/2000. Under a scheme entitled “Establishment of Agricultural College, Badnapur dist. Jalna”. Initially, an undergraduate program B.Sc. (Agri.) degree in the faculty of Agriculture was offered. The postgraduate degree M.Sc. (Agri.) started in the five disciplines viz. Agronomy, Agricultural Botany (Genetics and Plant Breeding), Agricultural Entomology, Plant Pathology, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry (Ref: MCAER/Education-1/2213/1082 Dated 04 June 2013 and MCAER/Education-1/87th Meeting/713/690/2013 dated 30.03.2013).

The master degree in the field of Agriculture was started at College of Agriculture, Badnapur in the discipline of Agronomy from 2013 and which was funded by Maharashtra Government and managed through VNMKV, Parbhani as constituent college. The students from agriculture background preferably admitted for this discipline through the entrance exam of PG CET and ICAR quota also allocated for COA, Badnapur. The intake capacity for master degree programme in the agronomy discipline is 06 and one of the student from ICAR.

With the existence of PG facility at this college, every year students from various constitutional and affiliated colleges of SAU admitted for higher studies and completed in stipulated period. Similarly the faculty in the field of Agronomy was also available as per the requirement of PG programme in college as well as research station at Badnapur and Chh. Sambhajinagar. Hence, college bears the moral obligation to provide quality higher education. Based on these strength, college has a quality agricultural education and need based research towards the fulfillment of degree and output for farmers’ community.
