The department of Plant Pathology is playing an important role in extension activities. The staff have been doing advisory work on plant disease management in different ways such as disease awarnes in farmers, examination of diseased samples received from farmers and staff of development departments, field visits, organising the training programmes for extension personnel and progressive farmers, participation in the field days and farm seminar arranged by State Agril Depatment, KVK officials and various Agriculture input agencies, thus sharing the results of research to the benefit of extension workers and farmers. The staff have brought out several pamphlets on many diseases. They regularly take part in agricultural extension programme, bi-monthly meetings and demonstrations. They effectively disseminate the technologies through AIR programmes also. The staff actively associate with the Extension Education Units of the University and Directorate of Extension and this interaction has resulted in an effective extension service.
