The College of Agriculture, Badnapur dist. Jalna has been established as a constituent college of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani. It is one of the sixth constituent colleges of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani. It was established in the year 2000 vide resolution of the government of Maharashtra, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Dairy and Fishery Department bearing number MKV/1299/77/20A dated 29/march/2000. Under a scheme entitled “Establishment of Agricultural College, Badnapur dist. Jalna”. Initially undergraduate Program B.Sc. (Agri.) degree in the faculty of Agriculture offered. The post-graduate degree M.Sc. (Hort.) started in the Fruit Science discipline (Ref: MCAER/Education-1/2213/1082 Dated 04 June 2013 and MCAER/Education-1/87th Meeting/713/690/2013 dated 30.03.2013).

The College of Agriculture, Badnapur is funded and managed by the Maharashtra Government through Vasantrao Naik, Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth located at Parbhani. Most of the students of this college are from rural and socially deprived sections. Without the existence of a PG facility at this college, at least 50 percent of students from this region would have been disconnected from their higher studies. Hence, college bears the moral obligation to provide quality higher education. The college has a clear vision, mission, and objectives for qualitative development in agricultural education as the top priority and thus functions towards its attainment.

Objectives

In all 25 students were admitted and completed the PG degree successfully. Out of these some students were admitted for the Ph.D. Degree programme, started the business of nursery, industry and some are preparing for comparative examinations.

Establishment of mother orchards of Mango (Var. Keshar), Pomegranate (Var. Solapur Red, Super Bhagawa), Fig (Var. Dinkar, Puna fig,) Guava (L 49, Lalit) for nursery and PG experiments.

MOU with NIASM, Baramati and MAHYCO, Jalna were signed in 2021-2022 for PG research collaboration.

Nilesh Narule selected as Asstt Manager Adani group in campus interview during 2022-23.

Students passed during 2018-2023 are presently working as Assistant Professor in various Agriculture Universities.

Dissemination of new improved technologies of various fruit crop production were done on regular basis through farmers trainings, field days, farmers rallies, demonstrations etc.
